and her exploits in the world of hand crafted beer…..

It’s been a little quiet from me lately hasn’t it!

on March 11, 2014

That’s not say it’s been quiet at the brewery.  I made the official announcement last month that Stan Shaw, formerly of Wapping Brewery and the Baltic Fleet Pub, was joining us to brew part time. This is a fantastic addition to the brew team and will enable us to step up production and therefore supply lots of lovely beer you to lovely people!

We have been busy brewing as much as we can and have stocks of some of our newer beers so if you are a pub or a bar or a restaurant and want to try some of our beers, please let me know by emailing us: admin@themelwoodbeercompany.co.uk or you can give me a call on 07763848355.  Similarly if you are a real ale drinker who likes our beer, how about asking your friendly neighbourhood landlord or landlady if they would like to try us? Perhaps you could pass on our details?

It has also been The Melwood Beer Company’s 1st anniversary! We have been brewing at our Knowsley premises for a whole year!!!! I can hardly believe that you know and it’s flown by! We brewed our flagship brew Citradelic, in honour of our momentous anniversary exactly one year to the day that we first brewed it.  Thank you to everyone who has supported us over this first year.  It’s been a ‘rollercoaster’ (sorry about the cliché) but it’s been one hell of a ride!

That said, we haven’t brewed over the last week because we are in the middle of an upgrade to the system – Stan is hard at work plumbing us in – so we will be better once the work has been done and our beer will be even more fantastic! I don’t mind blowing my own trumpet – I truly believe we make great beer and I know from the feedback we get that you enjoy drinking it!

Plans for the immediate future include Stan’s inaugural brew on the Melwood Beer Company’s system and we WILL be starting to sell our bottled beers.  Labelling is nearly there and we will be supplying to our favourite bottled beer sellers around the region.

As for mrsmelwoodbeer, well I am continuing to learn all about the world of real ale and it’s not so scary now.  I appreciate good beer and I’m understanding the process much better.  We are learning all the time and we are very grateful for the following we are getting.  Its growing and growing and despite all the hard work that it is (lifting, lugging, rolling, getting wet, getting cold, getting hot) and the injuries (burns, scalds, bruises, cuts and BROKEN NAILS – yano how a girl is about her nails) it has all been worth it so far.  Thank you to everyone for your support.

Signing off for now but remember keep drinking real ale and supporting our fabulous pubs!

Salut! xxxxx

  1. Great Stuff Julie,

Excellent to hear that you’re going from strength to strength over your fledgling year; it’s been noticable how much stronger your presence is in a variety of pubs too lately! Testament to all the hard work you guys do, no doubt augmented once Stan gets the bit between his teeth properly.

Am looking forward to seeing how you guys progress for the next year and beyond!

    All the best,

    Pedro.
